For more than two decades, the Diocese of Iligan has worked to address malnutrition by tackling its root cause—poverty. This led to the creation of a credit and microfinance program, strengthened through the support of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the Small Enterprise Development Program (SEDP), helping families build sustainable livelihoods through income-generating projects.
In 1997, the organization adopted the Grameen Banking approach, and in 1998, SERVIAMUS FOUNDATION INC. (SFI) was officially established as a Non-Government Organization (NGO). Alongside microfinance services, SFI introduced financial assistance programs such as the Mutual Aid Fund (MAF), later enhanced into the Enhanced Mutual Aid Fund (EMAF), to support members during times of loss.
In 2013, Serviamus MBA, Inc. was created and officially licensed by the Insurance Commission in 2014 to provide micro-insurance services. Today, SFI and Serviamus MBA, Inc. remain committed to empowering poor families through sustainable microfinance and micro-insurance programs.
The product aims to provide financial security and peace of mind to members and their families by reducing the financial burden caused by unexpected loss of life.
